Unified Patents is seeking prior art for claim 1 of US 6,839,751 owned and asserted in multiple district court cases by Packet Intelligence, LLC. The '751 patent generally relates to monitoring and analyzing a flow of packets passing through a connection point on a computer network. The rules for this contest are as follows: (1) If the prior art reference is a patent, it must have a priority date before 1999-06-30. If it is a non-patent reference, it must have been publicly available before 1999-06-30. (2) The contestant must include a PDF attachment of the submitted reference (with or without annotations). (3) The contestant must include a claim chart with the submitted reference. (4) Only a SINGLE reference is permitted per submission to teach or disclose "conversational flow," which is claim language that is used four times in claim 1. (5) For the purposes of this contest, “conversational flow” is construed to mean a sequence of packets that are exchanged in any direction as a result of an activity (for instance, the running of an *application* on a server as requested by a client). Some "conversational flows" may involve more than one connection, and some may even involve more than one exchange of packets between a client and server. It is critical that the SINGLE reference links communications by *application* as opposed to by layer and client-server pair. If the SINGLE reference only links packets (and tracks corresponding statistics) by layer and client-server pair, and NOT by *application*, it will not qualify for the purposes of this contest.
